When it comes to being a parent, we all make decisions that are for our children and our family.
One mum has shared an emotional TikTok after being slammed by a woman for a decision she made: to get her daughter’s ears pierced.
Hannah sobbed in the car as she recalled the horrible moment in the store, when she was called a “disgusting mother” all for letting her three-year-old get her ears pierced.

“Just got told that I’m a disgusting mother,” she said through tears in the car recalling the confrontation in a popular store in the US.

“I don’t even know what to say. So, to the lady that said that: my daughter thinks I’m a great mother. What you didn’t see is that she asked for those earrings for weeks and she was smiling afterwards.”
Hannah thanked the other people who were in the store when this happened, who treated her and her daughter “like gold” and said we need more people like this in the world.

While Hannah initially called the woman a “disgusting excuse for a human” she admitted she regretted retaliating in front of her daughter.
“Stop shaming people because they don’t agree with you. Stop shaming people, people. That was so wrong and not needed,” she finished.
While she was clearly rattled, she took it as a learning experience for her daughter.
At the end of the clip she added the text: “Words are powerful and can really hurt people! Stop shaming people for living life differently than you.”

”That’s such an unhinged thing to say to a stranger,” one person wrote to the mum in the comments.
Another commented, “Girl, that lady has issues to say that to you. Dry those tears…you did nothing wrong.”
While some people didn’t agree with her decision, they felt like if her daughter asked for it, then it was fine to do it.
“Personally I don’t agree with it. But that hardly makes you a bad mother. Keep doing great. God bless,” commented one person.

“I personally waited until my daughter could tell me she wanted them pierced. She was 5 and did amazing. I never understood why parents pierce a baby’s ears. It’s their little body, let them decide,” replied another mum.
Another woman shared her experience of working at Claire’s and wrote, “I worked at Claire’s all through college. I hated ear piercing so much. Maybe not you, but tons of parents would force their kids to get piercings. It made the job so hard.”
